About Us

In 2005, I suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI).  After being ejected from the truck and landing on the side of the highway, I spent hours in an unconscious state in a Springfield, MA medical center.  Months in rehab and years learning how to overcome challenges from my injuries was sometimes almost a breaking point for me.  I still suffer from frequent headaches, complete loss of smell and taste and I am deaf in my right ear.  On top of those injuries were multiple skull fractures and skin grafs to the upper region of my body.  I consider myself one of the blessed survivors who  overcome their challenges.  Unfortunately most brain injury survivors aren't as fortunate.  Many survivors require lifelong care- physical, cognitive and emotional support.

Each year, there are 64,000 new cases of TBI's in Massachusetts.  Survivors like me, who often feel alone and unsure of how or where to proceed next.  The Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts (BIA-MA) is committed to providing the resources and support needed to survivors, families, caregivers and professionals.

I am committing to running from Canaan, New York (state border) to my hometown of Longmeadow, MA.  A 64 miles journey-part of my larger plan to eventually run across the entire Commonwealth.  I began this journey in August 2010, when I ran 98 miles from Longmeadow, MA to Boston, MA.  This all started as a means to aid in my own recovery but has grown to so much more.

I have a lot of people that I look up to for support and strength.  Over the past couple of years inspirations that I have found have been Dick and Rick Hoyt, people around the world overcoming any odd, and most importantly my father that I look up to every single day.  The continued support from my entire family and friends, along with my beautiful loving wife Andrea has been a large piece of this success.

Please help support me and the other 64,000 brain injury survivors!  Every dollar raised will be given directly to the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts - a 501c3 organization.  Your donation will help the next survivor, family and caregiver.  Your gift will help us to advocate for better resources, help to prevent brain injury, offer educational courses to professionals and offer continuous support to survivors!

Thank you so much for your support!!!
